Davina McCall confirms all-clear from cancer after life-saving brain surgery (2025)

The former Big Brother host issued a stark warning to fans after delivering the health update video on social media

Davina McCall has confirmed she has received the all clear following life-saving brain surgery. The TV presenter underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst last year.

The tumour was discovered during a health scan she received after giving a menopause talk. The mother-of-three previously spoke about the "anger" she felt about the tumour, which she described as "taking control" of her life.

The former Big Brother host shared her happy news in a video on Instagram on Saturday alongside her boyfriend, Michael Douglas.

Relaxing and soaking in the sun in the garden, the 57-year-old said: "So, here it is. Our final brain surgery update. Had the final MRI this week. @brainsurgeon.uk got everything out during surgery, it's not coming back.

"Thanks so, so much to everyone at @onewellbeck and @clevelandclinic."

Thanking her mum, boyfriend, best friend and "amazing kids" for looking after her, Davina, host of Making The Cut with Michael Douglas and Begin Again, went on: "To my mum and @mdlondon for taking such good care of me.

"To Sarah for being my BFF to my amazing kids. To @brain.surgeon.uk for being the GOAT.

"I am so so grateful particularly because I know a lot of people have inoperable tumours and and I know I’m lucky to be able to draw a line under this and move on with my life when so many people can’t.

"And I’m just gonna say this one more time. Benign does not mean fine..."

Speaking in the video, a delighted-looking Davina said: "We thought we'd give you a final brain operation update.

"Last week, I had my final MRI and I was a bit nervous about it because I knew if any of it was left then it'd grow back and I'd go through the whole thing again which I was prepared to do... but it was clear."

The couple then showed an MRI picture of the brain tumour in the middle of Davina's head from before, alongside an update photo of the MRI from Thursday, when the health and wellness guru received her final scan.

"I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who looked after me so well," she told her 2.1 million followers. "Thanks to everyone bump into in the street... and thanks to our families and all our friends for supporting us both.

In November 2024, the Masked Singer judge told her followers about her upcoming surgery for a condition which affects three in one million people.

The benign tumour was discovered during a health scan at London's OneWellbeck Clinic in August 2023.

At the end of last year, she underwent a five-hour surgery after a 14mm benign tumour, known as a colloid cyst, was discovered during a health check-up related to her advocacy work on menopause.

Initially Davina thought the fogginess and memory struggles she experienced were caused by her menopause symptoms but then realised it was the cyst, which was located on her short-term memory pathway.

Leaving the tumour untreated could have resulted in sudden death.
